Do you ever fall in love with something while you are shopping, but think, “gosh, this is beautiful, but how would I wear this? The secret is that it is all about thinking outside of the box while playing up on the textures, patterns, and colors of the garment.
When you look at the skirt, what do you see- when you look at the shoes, what do you see? I see a beautiful skirt with heavy material made of tweed texture with dark muted tones and gold thread.
The shoe becomes the ”secret” to bring the outfit together while giving it a “Parisian Style”. First, you need a shoe that is chunky versus dainty; otherwise the skirt will be unbalanced. This shoe is a classic Spectator or “Capped” pump, with a chunky heel. Next, gold chains and pearls add detail to the chunky shoe. Think of the chains and pearls as “texture” that will complement the tweed in the skirt. Finally, the affect of color… the skirt has dark muted tones, and an all navy or black shoe would be too much and boring. A neutral muted tone is still an excellent choice, however, you want something that is in the lighter tone. One possibility is a shoe with taupe, black, with gold to accent.
One of the reasons that I would choose this shoe is because of the “focal point” of the embellishments. Sure, the shoe is beautiful without the pearls and chains, but the “Chanel look” gives the skirt an entirely different personality. The chunky hardware balances the heavy tweed and texture. And my favorite, the gold chains bring out the gold thread in the tweed.
